Fun Summer Fashion… College Kid Edition…
Before I begin, I know I am a little older than most college kids, I am 28. I also know that for the summer fashion of 2017, the biggest trend was apparently crop tops and booty shorts, however some college ladies want to wear something cute, fashionable, and a little more conservative without being too “prudish.” So this post is for all you ladies out there who don’t want to show off everything, but want to be cute, comfortable, and fashionable this summer.
One look I love to rep every summer is the lose flowy top, cute bralette, and shorts. It is truly the perfect go-to summer outfit for a casual evening or day. I have rocked similar outfits for multiple occasions; a cook-out, a motorcycle rally, a child’s birthday party, a Memorial Day Picnic, and this specific day was just to spend an evening with friends.
I love having just a cute, simple, fun outfit. Sometimes a girl wants to look cute but be comfortable, especially on a super-hot summer day. This was one of those super-hot summer days, so I decided less chic, more cool. My favorite summer fashion is always chic, cool, cute, and comfy.
So, what pieces do I use for this ensemble?
Let me start with my super cute, super cheap, amazing steal of an aqua bralette. I found that bralette on sale at a Walmart. I love Walmart clearance sales because you find some awesome stuff occasionally and the prices are always worth it. If my memory is correct, that bralette was only $6. Sometimes I shop at Victoria Secret for great bralettes because their Pink line always has cute ones, but this one was cheap. It also has padding so no issues!
The top is a personal favorite because it just screams summer fashion. It is a flowy tank top from American Eagle, and when I bought it, it was about $17. Not a bad deal. The tank is a nice thick cotton and gives a great silhouette.
The shorts I chose are Miss Me shorts that I got at Buckle. I am a buckle lover, and especially of their Curvy Miss Me jeans, shorts, and capris. Because these are Miss Me, they are a little pricy, roughly $90. The reason I continue to pay $90+ for Miss Me bottoms is because they are the epitome of quality. I have had some Miss Me jeans for 4 years and longer. The denim holds up, the stretch doesn’t wear, and the threading holds up well. I also love how the details, like sequins and studs, don’t fall off easily. For me, the quality is worth the price.
My extras to make this outfit extra awesome…
To complete this summer fashion, I added some teal sandals I bought at Maurice’s, which is a favorite shop that sells regular and plus size clothes. I added a necklace from Rue 21, and some of my favorite bracelets from Pura Vida. (I love Pura Vida, so check out my reviews Here, Here, and Here.) So there you have it… A simple, yet sweet, summer fashion for the casual days or nights.
